my wife, Mandy, and two kids, Ethan and Haleigh, came to FUMC in 2005, we were received with open arms and a loving spirit.  I have come to find that is how this church embraces people. We have a desire to meet people where they are on their journey and walk with them as they discover the depth of Jesus’ love for them...

I was born in Sacramento, CA in 1972 and was an Air Force brat for the first 18 years of my life.  I come from a large family of 4 sisters and 1 brother.  I graduated from Colorado State University in 1993 with a degree in Psychology and it was at CSU that I felt the Lord calling me into the ministry, of which I have been ordained in the United Methodist Church since 1998.  In 1996 I had the overwhelming joy of marrying my wife, Mandy.  We both agree that God has led us to this church and wants to use us to share the incredible message of Christ’s saving grace!”

with small groups, to a church of small groups, we are in the midst of changing a culture.

   I am excited about the educational opportunities we are growing into.  I have lived and worked in Canon City for two years and am looking forward to where God is leading us in the coming year.  I am grateful for my ordination and the educuation I have recieved to help prepare me for the ministry God has placed me here to support and encourage.  It is my hope that we will continue to listen for the direction and leading of the Holy Spirit as we create new possibilities to Reflect Christ... No strings attached."

Sharon Kerns:  Accompanist am very excited to be part of FUMC Staff in Canon City. The most exciting thing for  

me has been to get back to playing the organ after nearly 12 years. I have been involved in church music since I was 12, playing piano for the junior choir at the Methodist church I grew up in. I started playing organ for churches as a Junior in High School, and went on and studied organ in college.

I am a graduate of Marymount College of Salina, Ks. (which is no longer in existence). I have played for churches in New York, Kansas, Wyoming and now Colorado. I was born and raised in upstate New York, the oldest of 4, 2 girls, 2 boys.My parents introduced us very early on to classical music, and for me, the rest is history. I have one son, Wes, and 7 grandchildren in Texas and Oklahoma. In addition to the church here, I am a substitute teacher and teach a music class at PCC Fremont.

The people at the church have been very welcoming to me, and I am looking forward to sharing life with you all.

Liz Anciaux: Youth Director    
Hello! I'm Liz Anciaux and I am the Youth Director here at FUMC. I have been on staff a little over a year and love working with the kids from 6th grade all the way up to 12th grade.

I have high expectations of our youth as they become adults. My vision for them is that they will grow up to be authentic Christians. I want them to be the same people in public like they are when they attend worship. I don't want them putting on fronts or trying to be someone else, I want them to find joy in the person that God created them to be.  Also, I long for the future church to understand the importance of being a committed and active member of the body. We live in a society that says,"if you don't like someone or some place it is okay to get up and leave." That isn't how family is suppose to be. The church is a 
family and we need to work together.
